FINANCIAL NUTRITION: MAKING DATA INVESTABLE

How much do you really know about the companies in your portfolio?

As a finance student, in my university classes, I was told repeatedly that fundamental analysis is a necessary skill set for every investor. I remember countless hours in and out of class poring over company financial statements, learning financial ratios, and practicing different valuation methodologies.

For the first time in my life, I thought “this is why people don’t invest.”

There’s no way around it, scouring obscure legacy SEC databases for 10-Ks, 10-Qs, and 8-Ks, combing through hours of audio from earnings calls, reading addresses to shareholders, keeping up with the latest news, AND conducting your own analysis is a mountain of work that is simply impossible for the vast majority of investors.

Technically all this information is public, but finding it is a chore. And even after learning how to access it, it’s exhausting to synthesize any intelligible insights from.

But, the point stands, knowing the nitty gritty financial data of the companies in your portfolio is important. The question we often ask at Daizy is, how do we make data more…human?

How do we take all this data about the inner workings and performance of these companies and present it in a way where it’s accessible, transparent, and insightful?

At Daizy, we’re changing the way financial data looks and feels, and analyzing it in real-time so that it’s accessible to you in a digestible format, from your pocket, at the click of a button.

Here’s a “conversation” I just had with Daizy:

Admittedly, it’s not everything an investor needs to know, but it’s a lot of important information that is on-demand, easy to find, and can be understood, in less than 30 seconds.

But don’t worry, we don’t stop here. Let’s take it a step further.

Even if you had all the financial data in the world, I repeat, how much would you really know about the companies in your portfolio?

At Daizy, we strive to empower conscious investing. We believe knowing about the companies that we’re investing our hard-earned money into goes beyond just financial data.

We want to know how companies make their profit, how they treat their employees, and if they conduct business in ethical ways that are good for people and the planet. More importantly, we want you to have the access to and increase the transparency of this information. We call it: Corporate Nutrition.

Take a look.

These are our corporate nutrition cards, accessible through the Daizy app. They give insights into not only know how a company is performing financially but also how ethically they create and use their profits. This allows us to make smart choices and align investments with our values.

Of course, we all have different values and by no means are we trying to change those. However, we do think it is the investors’ right to know the “nutritional value” of the companies that make up their portfolio.

More importantly, this information allows us to shape our identity as investors and the impact we have. When the feedback we receive from investing is simply dollar and percentage figures moving up and down, it is hard to comprehend where our money goes and how our investing footprint is affecting the world around us. But, with this added layer of accessibility and digestibility, we can allocate resources in alignment with the impact we want to have and become the investors we want to be.

We’re excited to usher in a new face of financial analysis and to empower people to express their passions, beliefs, and ethics through how they invest. We hope you’re equally excited to join us on the journey.
